Vinay Rajkumar’s latest venture, Pepe continues its battle at the box office grappling with mixed to negative reviews from both critics and audiences. After a modest opening the film’s second-day collection has shown minimal growth leaving its future prospects uncertain.
Day 2 Box Office Collection
On its second day Pepe managed to collect ₹0.22 crore (net) in India and ₹0.27 crore (gross) worldwide. This is only a slight increase from its Day 1 collection of ₹0.25 crore (gross). The limited growth suggests that the film is struggling to gain a larger audience, largely due to the average to negative response it has received so far.
Comparison with Vinay Rajkumar’s Previous Movie
To understand Pepe‘s current performance, it is useful to look at Vinay Rajkumar’s previous film, Ondu Sarala Premakathe. Although it started with a slower box office collection the film managed to recover its budget and was declared a semi-hit.
- Ondu Sarala Premakathe opened with a modest ₹0.08 crore on its first day. However positive audience feedback, it saw a significant jump on Day 2 grossing ₹0.15 crore.
- The film continued to gain momentum over the weekend collecting ₹0.24 crore on Day 3 and ₹0.28 crore on Day 4, eventually reaching a total worldwide gross of ₹3 crore.
Unlike Ondu Sarala Premakathe, which benefited from good word-of-mouth and positive reception, Pepe has not been able to capitalize on its pre-release buzz. Despite an intriguing trailer and the appeal of Vinay Rajkumar’s new “mass” avatar, the film’s mixed reviews are impacting its box office journey.
For Pepe to gain traction at the box office it would need a significant boost in collections over the weekend. However with current trends showing steady but minimal growth. it might be challenging for the film to recover its estimated budget of ₹4-5 crore.
