Plot:

Viraj, a renowned fashion photographer in Mumbai, shares a unique bond with his daughter Mahi, who is battling cystic fibrosis. When Mahi’s curiosity about her mother grows, Viraj promises to share the story if she excels in her studies. However, a delay strains their relationship, and Mahi goes missing but is rescued by Yashna. Both Yashna and Mahi insist on learning the story of Varsha, Viraj’s past love.

Viraj recounts his love story with Varsha in Coonoor, their marriage, and the challenges they faced, especially after Mahi’s birth revealed her health condition. Varsha’s memory loss leads to her leaving Viraj and Mahi. Unraveling the mystery, it’s revealed that Yashna is, in fact, Varsha, and Viraj narrated the story using a different name. As Yashna and Mahi’s bond strengthens, conflicts arise, and Yashna’s past comes to light, bringing emotional turmoil. A poignant moment is shared by Mahi, Pluto, Viraj, and Yashna in Goa.

Vyra Entertainment announced their debut production on January 1, 2023, with Nani and Mrunal Thakur as the lead cast. Shouryuv made his directorial debut, with Hesham Abdul Wahab handling the music, Sanu Varghese as the cinematographer, Praveen Anthony as the editor, and Jothish Shankar as the art director. The film, initially titled “Nani 30,” marks Thakur’s second Telugu film. In late March, Angad Bedi joined the cast, making his Telugu debut, and in April, it was reported that Shruti Haasan would also be part of the film. On July 13, the title “Hi Nanna” was revealed, and Nani reportedly received ₹22 crore as remuneration.

Filming:

Principal photography started in February 2023, with the first schedule in Hyderabad and the second in Mumbai. The third schedule took place in Ramoji Film City, with Thakur wrapping up her portions by July 27. The fourth schedule began on September 2 in Coonoor, featuring a song sequence.
